Dabrowski of Ottawa and Brazil’s Stefani move on to the Wuhan Open semifinals

Gabriela Dabrowski of Ottawa and Brazilian partner Luisa Stefani advanced to the doubles semifinals of the Wuhan Open on Friday with a 7-6 (4), 6-4 win over Mexico’s Giuliana Olmos and Estonia’s Ingrid Neel.

The top seeds had 22 unforced errors and faced nine break points in the match. They saved seven of those break points and converted three of the six break-point chances they had against Olmos and Neel.

Dabrowski and Stefani will face fifth seeds Nicole Melichar-Martinez of the United States and Cristina Bucsa of Spain in Saturday’s semifinals at the WTA 1000 tournament.

Fresh off China Open title

Dabrowski and Stefani arrive in the semifinals after a 6-1, 6-2 upset of Katerina Siniakova and Zhang Shuai in last week’s China Open final.

That victory gave them their fifth title of the season and their seventh as a team.
